Powerful Prayer

In our last update, we praised God for his faithfulness in raising our support and keeping us safe and provided for throughout deputation so far. God continues to be faithful and our support is continuing to grow. Join us again in thanking God for this. We are currently at 72% of our needed support, and 83% of our needed “outfit and passage” fund.

A couple of months ago I was on the phone with a pastor and he asked me for something that he could pray for us about. I started listing our typical prayer requests of safety traveling, etc. and he stopped me. “No… I mean something incredible. Something that, if it happened, would be something that only God could do.” I thought for a minute. At the time, we were at 54% of our support. We were 2 months away from Launch Seminar, which is a required seminar put on by BMM once a year. The requirement to attend Launch Seminar is 70-75% of your support. Raising that much support in that short of time seemed next to impossible. So I told him that he could pray that God would get us to launch in 2022. Right there on the phone, he stopped and prayed that God would bring in the support we needed to attend Launch this year. I was really encouraged by his attitude. But, at the time, no more inclined to believe it could happen then I was before. Well... I am typing this prayer letter from Cleveland, OH, where we are attending Launch Seminar. God answers prayers. I recently called that pastor back and asked if he remembered praying with me. He did. And before I could get the words out, he said “you’re going to launch seminar this year, aren’t you?” God has taught us a very valuable lesson through this faithful pastor.

God has not only encouraged us with our support level, but even more so by the immense kindness and hospitality of his people. This past month we had meetings at Olivet Baptist Church in Kansas City, Faith Baptist in Smithville, Grace West in Des Moines, Berean Baptist in Pella, and Emmanuel Baptist in Des Moines. In every single instance, God used these churches to encourage us and make us feel loved. Since the start of deputation, we have presenting in close to 30 churches and there has not been one instance where we have not felt God’s love through His people. This is a huge praise and a testiment to God’s grace.

Between two of our meetings this month, we spent a week at Racoon River Bible Camp. Tim was able to speak about missions and recognizing God’s call on your life to their Junior High camp. This was a lot of fun for us and for our kids, and I pray will be used by God in the lives of the kids at camp. Pray for these kids. That God will use what they heard this week in their lives and especially for those that made commitments, that they will be guarded and encouraged by Him to continue in those commitments as they get back to “normal life.”

We had a great time with the Boyle family this month. They are missionaries to Indonesia and they were able to stay with our family for a couple of days.

As I said, we are currently at Launch Seminar in Ohio. We will have more updates on this in our next update. Following this, we will be driving down to North Carolina for a meeting there. Then back to Iowa for a meeting in Davenport. Pray for safety as we travel, pray for clarity as we present our ministry to the United Kingdom, and pray for our family, that we will grow in our walk with the Lord as we follow His will.

Thank you. I can’t express enough how much we appreciate all of your prayers and financial supprt. God really does answer prayers, and your prayers are, I believe, the reason we are where we are and have seen so many blessings from Him. Thank you.
